Bereavement Care & Grief Support

Understanding Bereavement Care

Understanding Bereavement Care

Compassion Through Every Loss.

Lifted Hospice offers compassionate hospice bereavement care and grief support for families. Discover spiritual guidance, counseling, and community connections during your time of loss.

We know that grief is not something to fix—it is something to carry.
And no one should have to carry it alone.

What is Bereavement Care?

Bereavement care is our way of honoring not just the person who has passed, but the ones who remain. When a loved one dies, we believe care should continue—extending comfort, connection, and guidance in the days, weeks, and months that follow.

Bereavement is the experience of losing someone through death. It includes grief, mourning, and the deeply personal work of learning how to live in the absence of someone you love.

We believe this experience deserves time, space, and compassionate support.

Hospice Bereavement:
A Family-Focused Promise

At Lifted, we are guided by a sacred calling: Helping people live life to the fullest—and that includes the loved ones who remain after a patient’s journey ends.
Our care doesn’t stop at the bedside. In fact, we believe:
Hospice isn’t just about the patient—it’s about the family.

That’s why bereavement support is not an optional extra. It is a core part of who we are and what we do. Guided by our values of compassion, integrity, joy, excellence, and innovation, our team is trained to walk with you in practical and deeply meaningful ways.

How Bereavement Care Helps.

At Lifted, we strive to put aside the day-to-day to truly see and serve the families who are grieving. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, spiritually distant, emotionally raw, or just unsure of what to do next—our team is here.

We offer:

  • Chaplains Who Care: Faith-filled listeners who are honored to walk with you, regardless of your beliefs.
  • Local Community/Church Connections: We’ll help connect you to religious communities and grief ministries that fit your needs.
  • Grief Counseling: One-on-one or group settings to talk through your experience in a safe, loving space.
  • Education & Support: We share resources to help you understand the grieving process and what’s “normal” along the way.
You don’t have to pretend to be strong here. You just have to show up—and we’ll walk with you from there.

Bereavement vs. Grief

What’s the Difference?

Understanding this distinction helps ensure families get the right type of support at the right time.

Bereavement

The specific period of mourning and adjustment after death.

Grief

A natural response to any significant loss (not only death).

What we believe about Grief

  • Loss is hard. Full stop. And that’s okay.
  • Grief is not a weakness. It’s a human, God-given process.
  • Community matters. Whether that’s our team, your church, or others—we’ll help you find your circle.
  • You are not forgotten. Families often feel unseen after a funeral. Not here. You’re part of our care.
  •  Faith brings hope. Whether strong or shaken, we hold space for your faith in all forms.

We believe healing comes not from rushing through grief—but from honoring it with compassion and dignity. This belief drives every interaction we have with you.

Symptoms of Bereavement

Everyone grieves differently, but here are some common signs:

  • Tearfulness or persistent sadness.
  • Anxiety, guilt, or emotional numbness.
  • Sleep difficulties or fatigue.
  • Withdrawing from others.
  • Trouble concentrating or making decisions
  • Yearning or spiritual confusion

These symptoms may ebb and flow. That’s okay. We’re here either way—with open hearts and listening ears.
